Baby Shower Games

A baby shower is a party to celebrate the impending arrival of a baby and an opportunity to present the Mum-to-be with baby gifts.  It is common for guests to play baby-themed games at the shower.

It is also becoming more popular to give party favours (small gifts or prizes) to guests.  We have a selection of gorgeous baby shower favours your guests will love!  Remember to visit our blog for other baby shower information and ideas.

Here are some baby shower game suggestions.

Mummy's Tummy

Pass around a ball of string and a pair of scissors.  Have each person cut a piece of string that they think will reach around ‘Mummy’s Tummy’.

When everyone has taken their turn, get the Mum-to-be to wrap a piece of string around her tummy and cut it to size.

The closest length wins a prize.

Baby Memory Game

Put a selection of baby items on a covered tray.  Uncover the items for a minute and have guests write down as many of the items as they can remember.  The Mum-to-be is given the tray of goodies to keep.

Make The Baby

Put guests in small teams and give each team some baby magazines, scissors, glue and paper.  Have them cut out pieces of different baby qualities and make up a picture of what they think the expectant Mum’s baby will look like. Have the Mother-To-Be pick which baby she likes the best!

Baby Shower Game Books

You might like to buy some books of simple and fun baby shower games.  Simply tear out the game sheets and pass them round for your guests to play.  We have some lovely game books, which come complete with a delicate bow.

Dress The Baby

Provide a doll, nappies, baby clothes, etc and time everyone to see who can dress baby the fastest.  Easier than the real thing!

Hang Out The Washing

Put up a simple washing line and provide pegs and baby clothes.  Time guests to see who can hang out the most items in the allocated time, eg. 1 minute.  But there’s a catch… the guests need to mimic the busy Mum and hold a baby doll and talk on a cordless phone!

Don't Say "Baby"

On arrival give each a guest a nappy pin or clothes peg to pin to their clothes.  Then tell them that for the rest of the baby shower they are not allowed to say ‘baby’.

If anybody catches another guest saying "baby", they can take their nappy pin/clothes peg and pin it to their own clothes.

The person with the most nappy pins or pegs at the end of the shower, wins.

Mystery Game

Place baby related items into about 5 pre-numbered paper bags and staple the tops.  Then pass the bags around and have guests write down what they think each bag contains.  Use items such as bottles, rattles, nappy pins, teethers, etc.  When everyone has written down their answers, open the bags to see who got the most right.  Alternatively, place items in a nappy bag and have each guest put their hand in and guess the object by feeling what it is.

Mum's Body

Give each guest a piece of paper to fold in half and place behind their back.  Have the Mum-to-be stand up and show the guests her profile.  Each guest then tears out the paper to match her form.  When everyone is finished have them reveal their masterpieces for all to see.  This is guaranteed to get some laughs.  The Mum can pick her favourite one and give a prize.

How Many Pins?

Fill a baby bottle with something like nappy pins or lollies and have guests guess the number of pins or lollies in the bottle.  The closest guess wins.

Guess The Baby Food

Purchase a selection of baby food in jars.  Cover up or remove the labels and mark each jar with a number.

Make sure you keep a record of which food matches which number.

Give each guest some paper and a pen and let them examine each jar to see if they can guess what it contains.

They can look at and smell the food but not taste it.

The guest with the most correct answers wins.

Baby Bingo

You can make up your own bingo card (5 x 5 grid of squares) for each guest, with a different type of baby gift in each square.  Each card should have a different layout of items.  As the mum-to-be opens her gifts, guests can cover the appropriate square.  The first player to cover five squares in a row (in any direction) and yell "Baby Bingo" wins.  You could make your cards smaller, eg. 4 x 4 squares and the first player to cover four squares in a row wins.

Baby Shower sells ready made baby bingo games for up to 10 guests!

Baby Picture Game

Ask all your guests to bring a baby photo of themselves. Number each picture and put them where everyone can see. Give each guest a sheet of paper with a list of numbers that correspond to the number of pictures, and ask them complete which baby picture they think belongs to each guest. The person with the most correct answers wins.
